Star-studded electoral battles and star campaigners notwithstanding, a clutch of celebrities dazzled on the fifth and penultimate polling day of the West Bengal assembly elections on Saturday as they took their turns at voting surrounded by paparazzi and public alike.
Stargazing took a completely different meaning on Saturday when a sparkling rainbow-hued halo around the sun took centre stage on a sleepy Saturday. But all eyes darted towards cinema icons and sportspersons as they made their way to cast ballots in various constituencies in south Kolkata.
Actress-turned-Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Roopa Ganguly, contesting from Howrah North, sportingly showed her inked finger sitting smugly in her vehicle. Ganguly looked at ease in a blue saree, a far cry from her usual grave expression seen during the last few phases.

Some donned goggles and some used caps to beat the sun but all beamed in pride after exercising their democratic right.

Perhaps underscoring the significance of the electoral process, former Indian cricket skipper and Cricket Association of Bengal chief Sourav Ganguly put on a solemn expression at his outing with the electronic voting machine (EVM).
