The Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said the Union government has approved the setting up of two All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state.
Responding to a question by BJP legislator Rajiv Jasrotia in the state legislature, Minister for Health and Medical Education Bali Bhagat said the approval was received by the state government last month.
Bhagat said the location of the two AIIMS has already been made by the state government at Awantipora in south Kashmir's Pulwama district and Samba district in the Jammu region.
An amount of Rs 4,000 crore has been ear-marked for this purpose under the Prime Minister's reconstruction package for the state.
Since both the projects were to be set up in the state by the central government, the minister said budgetary details would also be advised by the Union government.
