Appealing for peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, Congress on Saturday said that it was the responsibility of the central and PDP-BJP state governments to ensure law and order.
Congress also blamed the Peoples Democratic Party-Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state for all the "wrong decisions that may have adverse consequences in the long term".
"To the youth or the elderly people of Jammu and Kashmir, we will convey the message that violence is not the solution to any problem. Peace, harmony and brotherhood are the only answers," Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told media.
"Both maintenance of law and order and maintenance of peace are the responsibilities of the Centre government and the government of Jammu and Kashmir," he added.
At least 10 protesters, were killed and over a 100 others injured in clashes between security forces and people protesting death of top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Muzaffar Wani across Kashmir on Saturday. Nearly 100 security personnel were also injured and three policemen were mssing.
