The central government will extend all help to Madhya Pradesh to develop tourism around places associated with Rani Laxmibai, the woman ruler of the princely state of Jhansi who led an army against the British, an official said on Thursday.

The assurance was made at a meeting held here between union Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma and Madhya Pradesh Women and Child Development Minister Maya Singh.

Maya Singh said the state government wishes to develop tourism in Gwalior by setting up a historical museum of Rani Laxmibai.

She also requested the central government to develop a convention centre in the name of Rani Laxmibai.
