CEO office is Bengal seizes over Rs 54 lakh

Police and Election Commission officials have seized an amount of over Rs 54 lakh from four individuals in West Bengal's Alipurduar district, an official said on Monday.

Based on prior information, the police and a team of the Chief Electoral Officer seized the money in Joygaon, said Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Basu.

"Common people can carry cash from one place to another, but they should be able to provide documents. There is also a cash release committee to see if a commoner's money is seized by mistake, " he said.

He said since the announcement of the elections, 59 arms, 235 rounds of ammunition, 3,782 litre of liquor, 136 kg ganja, 6,750 kg ammonium nitrate (used for manufacturing explosive), 2,676 kg gelatin stick powder, and other items like cough syrup have been recovered.

 

Sharing the details of 'Vigil App' Basu said, "As many as 1,139 complaints have been registered so far out of which 677 have been resolved".

Also, they have received 361 complaints via ECI's National Grievance Services (NGS) portal and 287 of them have been addressed.

The citizens portal of NGS recorded 486 complaints out of which 437 have been already resolved, Basu said.
