Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, scheduled in New Delhi on Thursday, has been postponed, the chief minister's office said without stating the reason.

It said the meeting was now likely to be held on August 25, 28, 29 or 31.

Naidu wants to meet Modi to seek special category status for revenue-deficit Andhra Pradesh and demand other measures to undo what he says was the injustice done to the state at the time of bifurcation.

Naidu, whose Telugu Desam Party (TDP) is a partner in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government, will also urge Modi to fulfil the commitmens made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014.

The chief minister on Aug 12 had told reporters that he spoke to Modi over phone to convey his views on the issue of special status. Modi urged him to meet him in New Delhi after Independence Day.
