Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy Saturday received the bodies of two sailors from the state, Vishnu Viswambaran and Liju Lawerence, who died in the submarine tragedy in Mumbai Aug 14.

The Indian Navy held a special guard of honour and Chandy placed wreaths on the bodies.

Another Keralite victim of the tragedy, whose body is still missing, is a sailor hailing from Tellichery in Kannur district.

Bodies of Viswambaran and Lawerence were recovered recently and their identity established after DNA tests.

Many newspapers Saturday morning flashed pictures of a weeping Chandy after he visited Friday the home of Lt Cdr R. Venkitaraj, whose body is yet to be recovered from the submarine Sindhurakshak.

The submarine exploded and sank in Mumbai harbour, killing 18 people including 15 sailors and three officers.
