Charges framed against Jundal in arms factory case

A court here Saturday framed charges against top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Abu Jundal, one of the masterminds of the Mumbai terror attack, and others for allegedly setting up an illegal arms factory.

According to sources, during the in-camera hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash framed charges against the accused under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code.

The accused pleaded not guilty. The witnesses will be examined from Aug 4.

Police earlier filed a chargesheet against 16 accused.

Later, a supplementary set of charges was filed against Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his associate Asadullah Akhtar for setting up the arms factory in Meer Vihar area of Nangloi in Delhi for manufacturing arms and ammunition to carry out terrorist activities in the capital and other parts of the country.

 

Police busted the factory in November 2011 and several Indian Mujahideen suspects were arrested.
