US Consul-General Thomas Vajda on Saturday led a 5-km charity run
to mark the 100th anniversary of the US Diplomatic Security Service (DSS).
"It is an honour to participate in an initiative dedicated to honour the men and women who work hard to keep us safe at all times. And its an extra bonus to help raise money for a great organisation through donations raised at our event," Vajda said ahead of the run, held here for the first time.
The US Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service and Overseas Security Advisory Council Mumbai Chapter, through the US Consulate, organised the charity run for the benefit of a NGO Vatsalya Foundation that works with Mumbai's street children. Similar events were conducted at more than 100 locations worldwide.
