The Football Association (FA) announced here on Monday that both Chelsea and Everton have been fined 30,000 pounds for player misconduct following an independent regulatory commission hearing.

"Following an incident in the 86th minute of their fixture on 11 February 2015, both clubs were charged with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behavior," the FA said on its website, Xinhua reported.

The incident took place during the 1-0 win for Chelsea as Branislav Ivanovic appeared to wrap his arm around Everton midfielder James McCarthy's neck.

The charge against Chelsea further alleged that their players surrounded the referee Jonathan Moss.

Chelsea and Everton both admitted the charge.

The fracas was sparked after Everton's Gareth Barry received a second yellow card for tripping goalscorer Willian, but Ivanovic escaped punishment.
