Child falls from fourth floor apartment window, dies

A four-and-half-year-old girl died after falling from the window of a fourth floor apartment here, police said on Tuesday.

"A baby girl named Ankita Rajak fell down from their flat on the fourth floor of the Hastings army quarters on Monday evening," said an officer from Hastings police station.

According to police, the kid was alone in the house as her parents had gone out for work as usual. She accidentally slipped through the open window besides the bed.

"The kid was taken to the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) where doctors declared her dead," police said.
