Chile's national football coach Jorge Sampaoli has said he will stay on through the 2018 Russia World Cup.
In a press release, Sampaoli said that he met earlier in the day with the head of Chile's national football association, Sergio Jadue, reports Xinhua.
"I have decided to stay on as coach of Chile's national team and coach it for the upcoming 2015 Cup America in Chile, the 2016 Centennial Cup America in the United States and the qualifiers for Russia 2018, including our participation in that World Cup," Sampaoli said.
The confirmation comes a day after the coach said as much to a group of sports reporters, adding he was even willing to drop an exit clause from his contract.
Following the World Cup, Sampaoli also told several media sources that he was "morally committed" to the team until 2015, and that he hoped to one day coach Argentina.
