Chile international playmaker Jorge Valdivia has revealed his wish to return to European football.

The 30-year-old is currently with Brazilian outfit Palmeiras after spells at Rayo Vallecano in Spain and Switzerland's Servette, reports Xinhua.

"I would love to return to Europe, but in a better situation than before," he was quoted saying by Brazilian football news website Sambafoot Sunday.

"I played at a team (Rayo Vallecano) that were in the second division. When I arrived there was one manager, and then the next one didn't want me or any foreigners.

"Then I went to Switzerland to play for Servette and the club went broke, which is not normal there. So my experiences in Europe were strange."

He said that in the event he did not attract interest from European clubs he hoped to compete at the highest level in South America.

"If I don't return to Europe, it's because I'm at a club that competes for the Libertadores every year, and that plays in the Club World Cup," added Valdivia, who has been capped 55 times for Chile.
