Chilly winds continued to blow across Rajasthan on Thursday, with the minimum temperature dropping to minus 1.9 degrees celsius in Churu.

Mount Abu, the only hill station in the desert state, was shivering at minus 2 degrees celsius.

Sri Ganganagar at minus 1.1 and Dabok at 2.5 degrees celsius were quite chilly.

Ajmer recorded 4.4, Pilani 2.6 and Jodhpur 4.3 degree Celsius.

State capital Jaipur was cold at 4.1 degrees celsius.

Weather officials said the temperatures are expected to remain around the present levels for the next 24 hours.

"Cold wave conditions, accompanied by ground frost, would prevail at some places in the state with severe cold wave at isolated places in the state in the next 24 hours," a weather department official said.

The cold wave conditions have come as a boon for the sellers of tea, eggs and groundnut.

"With temperatures going down, my sale of eggs and its products have increased," said Naresh, an egg seller at Jaipur's Raja Park area.

Echoing similar views, Pappu, a tea stall owner said: "Consumption of tea at my stall has gone up substantially in the last few days, thanks mainly to the cold wave conditions."
