China on Friday evaded commenting on Sri Lanka reportedly not allowing its submarine to dock at Colombo.
"I have just read the relevant information. I suggest you raise it with the Defence Ministry for more details," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said when asked about the development.
"What I can tell you is that China and Sri Lanka enjoy traditional friendship. The two sides maintain sound cooperation in the fields of politics, economy, culture and military to military exchanges," he added.
The development coincides with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to Sri Lanka.
In 2014, a Chinese submarine had docked in Colombo and India had conveyed its displeasure to Sri Lanka.
