China has begun training for mine-sweeping exercises to be later carried out in Afghanistan, with the international humanitarian mine-sweeping communication and training for the South Asian country commencing in Jiangsu province Monday.
Ninteen Afghani trainees, from military and civil mind-sweeping organisations will be trained as a part of trust building measures under the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan. After training, participants will play an active role in sweeping mines and promoting post-war reconstruction in Afghanistan, Xinhua reported.
Afghanistan is one of the most mine-affected countries in the world.
