China's Yu Zaiqing was Friday elected the International Olympic Committee (IOC) vice president.

The 62-year-old Yu, an IOC member since 2000, had been on its executive board from 2004-12, reports Xinhua.

The post was vacated by Thomas Bach after his election as IOC president last September.

The other vice presidents are Nawal El Moutawakel of Morocco, Craig Reedie of Britain and John Coates of Australia.
