China's meteorological authority on Monday warned the public of possible geological disasters in the south as heavy rain is expected to continue in the region.
Parts of Guangdong, Guizhou, Hubei, Anhui, Hunan, Jiangxi provinces and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region will receive torrential rain of up to 180 mm of precipitation from Tuesday to Thursday, the National Meteorological Centre (NMC) said.
The strong rain is expected to weaken on Friday before a new round of rainstorms comes to the regions from April 9 to 11, Xinhua news agency quoted the NMC as saying.
The NMC warned of high risks of geological disasters in the areas, suggesting people affected by the rainstorms take precautions against possible mountain torrents, mud-rock flows and landslides.
