A Chinese obstetrician is on trial for stealing newborn babies and selling them to child traffickers, BBC reported.

Zhang Shuxia, accused of selling seven babies, would tell the parents that their infants were sick. She would later convince them to give them up, media reports said.

Zhang admitted the charges in a court in Fuping, Shaanxi province.

The case came to light when two parents went to the police, suspecting their child had been abducted.
