CISF woman officer falls off train trying to save purse from robber

A woman Sub Inspector of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) fell from a train while trying to save her purse from a robber at a railway station in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh, Railway Police said on Monday.

Suman Dagar was travelling from Ajmer to Jabalpur in an AC three-tier compartment on Saturday. Near Ruthiyai Junction, Dagar collected her belongings and went to the door of the compartment, from which a youth was hanging. The youth tried to snatch her purse. While fighting off the robber, Dagar fell off the train and was injured, Guna station in-charge Government Railway Police (GRP), R.V.S. Parihar told IANS on Monday.

 

Dagar was unable to prevent the robber from fleeing with her purse. She incurred serious injuries on her hands and feet due to the fall.

Parihar told IANS: "Before getting off the train at Ruthiyai, she came and stood at the door where a youth was hanging. As soon as Dagar opened the door, the youth reached in and tried to snatch her purse off her shoulder. During the scramble, she fell off the train and couldn't save her bag."

"Besides important documents, the purse contained a mobile phone and Rs 5,000 in cash," he added.

A case has been registered with the GRP and they are searching for the accused.
