Argentine Guillermo Barros Schelotto has decided to leave his post as the head coach of Italian football club Palermo.
He joined the club on January 11. But decided to leave on Wednesday after European soccer's ruling body (UEFA) failed to accept his coaching license as valid, reports Efe.
"It is with deep regret that Palermo must take note of the decision of Guillermo Barros Schelotto and his staff to leave the technical guidance of the team, having not got the UEFA-recognized license to coach," said the club in a statement on its website on Wednesday.
Schelotto, 42, said goodbye to the team on Wednesday and will return to his native Argentina on Thursday.
Palermo is in the 15th place in the Serie A standings with 26 points after 24 rounds of the championship this season.
