A special court hearing a coal block allocation case allegedly involving Nagpur-based Grace Industries Ltd. (GIL) on Monday issued summons to former coal secretary H.C. Gupta, the company and other people.

Special Judge Bharat Parashar also issued summons to the coal ministry's former joint secretary K.S. Kropha, the director for geology and mining under the Maharashtra government Vishwas Sawakhande, and the company's directors Mukesh Gupta and Seema Gupta.

The court -- which was hearing a matter pertaining to allocation of the Lohara (east) coal block in Maharashtra to GIL -- directed the people to appear before it on September 4.

The court on January 19 had directed the CBI to conduct further probe into the alleged collusion between public servants and company officials in a case related to the allocation of coal blocks in which the CBI had charge-sheeted GIL and one of its directors Mukesh Gupta.
