Coal case: Court grants bail to Adhunik Corp directors

A court here on Friday granted bail to two directors of Adhunik Corporation Ltd, accused in a case related to alleged irregularities in allocation of Patrapara coal block in Odisha.

Special Judge Bharat Parashar granted bail to Nirmal Kumar Agarwal and Mahesh Kumar Agarwal, asking them to furnish a personal bond of Rs.1 lakh each with a surety of like amount.

Both were summoned last month as accused in a case pertaining to alleged irregularities in allocation of Patrapara coal block. They appeared before court on Friday and moved their bail application.

The court directed them not leave the country without its prior permission or try to influence witnesses and hamper investigation in the case as it posted the matter for further hearing on February 15.

 

The firm and its two directors were summoned for alleged offences of criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery for the purpose of cheating and using as genuine a forged documents of the Indian Penal Code.

The Central Bureau of Investigation in its charge sheet said that Adhunik Corporation had misrepresented various aspects both to the steel and coal ministries with a view to cheat them so as to procure allocation of Patrapara coal block.
