Coldest Republic Day in a decade

It was the coldest Republic Day in ten years Sunday in the national capital with the minimum temperature recorded at 9.9 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season's average.

The Met Office has forecast a clear day ahead.

The fly past by the Indian Air force was not affected by the light fog in the Rajpath area of the capital city, where President Pranab Mukherjee took the salute at the ceremonial parade.

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 20 degrees Celsius during the day, said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

According to the Northern Railway, many trains were running late due to fog in northern plains of the country.

 

Saturday's maximum temperature was 14.4 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 9.4 degrees Celsius.
