Three unidentified attacjers riding a motorbike shot at a collection agent in the national capital and robbed him of Rs.4 lakh in cash, police said Sunday.
Rajkumar, 37, was shot at around 9 p.m. Saturday in Karawal Nagar area of east Delhi while he was heading home in the Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh.
"The victim was rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical. He was shot in the back," a police officer said.
Rajkumar works as a collection agent for Idea Cellular, a mobile network operating company.
The police officer said Rajkumar collected the money from the market and was returning to his office in Karawal Nagar when the three motorbike riders approached him and snatched his bag, in which the money was kept.
"When the victim resisted the robbery attempt, he was shot," the police officer said.
"Preliminary inquiry suggests that the assailants knew that the victim was carrying a big amount. All Idea employees working with the victim are being questioned," the officer said.
