New Delhi, April 18 (IANS) Well-known Marathi actress Asawari Joshi, famous for playing Usha madam in popular comedy show "Office Office", says comedy is the most difficult genre and an actor who can make people laugh can do any role.

"Comedy is very difficult for any actor or actress. If someone can do that role, then they can do any role. It's an art to make others laugh," Asawari told IANS.

The 47-year-old has been in the showbiz since 1996. Apart from TV, she is active in Marathi films and there she exhibits her serious side. She is often seen playing serious roles in movies like "Tandala - The mask" and "Ek Daav Sansaracha".

"People call me for comedy shows, but my roles in Marathi films are serious. I have never played a comic character in Marathi films and people call me for serious roles," said the actress who is back on the small screen with Disney's "Shake IT Up", a dance-filled fun show.

In the new series, she is seen as Kiran Walia, a cop and single-mother and how she strikes a balance between her personal and professional life.

Identifying with the character, Asawari admits every working woman goes through the same situation like Kiran.

"Kiran is a cop, so she is authoritative and dominating. But when she reaches home, she is just the mother of her children. And every working woman goes through the same situation, they manage their personal and professional roles differently," said Asawari.

Although her new show is a comedy, the actress clarifies that there is no similarity between her characters of Usha madam, which was highly appreciated, and Kiran Walia in "Shake IT Up".

" 'Office Office' was a satire and people related to it, which made them laugh, but 'Shake IT Up' is completely different from it as it's a light comedy. The two roles cannot be compared and you will not see any trace of Usha madam here," she said.

Asawari, who has worked with veterans like Pankaj Kapur, Boman Irani and Amitabh Bachchan, said: "It's always great to work with big actors because they are sincere and disciplined about their work, and I enjoyed working with them."

The actress is enjoying her work in "Shake IT Up" as she is working with kids after a long time, but she is not interested in being a part of typical saas-bahu sagas.

"I am not interested in being a part of the typical saas-bahu sagas. Only if I get a good and different character, I will do it," she said.

The actress also said she is a "studious actress" and language doesn't matter to her.

"I choose only those characters that I fall in love with. I like all my roles and I cannot choose one favourite," she said.
