Compensation, job for families of those killed in Gorkhland agitation

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday announced Rs two lakh compensation and a job for one member of the family of agitators who died during the recent Gorkhaland agitation.

"All the parties raised the compensation issue for the agitators who died during the (Gorkhaland) movement in the hills and have no criminal cases against them.

"As much as Rs two lakh would be given as compensation to the agitators who died during movement and Rs 50,000 each for seriously injured persons. One family member of the deceased persons would be provided a job," Banerjee told reporters after the fourth round of all-party meetings in Pintel village in Darjeeling.
