A complaint was filed on Thursday with the Odisha police against three Members of Parliament (MPs) for insulting the national flag while they took part this week in the Saarc Young Parliamentarians Conference in Pakistan.
Human rights activist Subash Mohapatra filed the complaint against Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Devji Bhai Patel and Alok Tiwari of Samajwadi Party for insulting the national flag.
The complaint said the Indian tricolour was seen hoisted upside down at the first Saarc Young Parliamentarians Conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.
The flag was hoisted with the green strip at the top and saffron at the bottom.
"While the national flag was shown upside down, Kalikesh Narayan Singhdeo remained silent and spoke on the occasion," said Mohapatra.
The BJD MP further insulted the flag by posting his photograph with wrongly hoisted national flag on social media, the complainant said.

Kalikesh on Thursday clarified that they raised the issue and the organisers put up the national flag correctly.
"This was raised and promptly corrected by the hosts as is evident in the other pictures," tweeted Singhdeo.
