Concerted efforts needed to make city safer: LG

Delhi Lt. Governor Anil Baijal on Friday demanded various stakeholders involved in women security to work together in order to make the national capital safer for women.

Baijal, in a meeting chaired by him, emphasised the need for gender sensitisation campaigns, community policing, technology, increased presence of women police personnel on ground, women in transport work force and proper street lighting, said a statement from the Raj Niwas.

In the seventh meeting of the "Task Force on Women Safety Issuesa, Baijal advised Delhi's education department to take various steps such as regular safety audit, gender sensitization and education programmes, the statement added.

 

He also directed that senior officers should visit schools regularly with focus on safety measures taken by the schools, it said.

Baijal directed Delhi Police to expedite investigation related to crime against women and children.
