Football player Christian Gandu managed to overturn a decision by Dutch authorities to deport him to his country of origin, Congo, where he plays.
The 23-year-old acquired permanent residency in the Netherlands after a campaign to allow him to stay in the European country where Dutch international Wesley Sneijder participated, reports Efe.
Previously, the Dutch immigration office ordered the player to be deported to his country of origin by December 17.
Christian arrived as a refugee in the Netherlands when he was only nine and played on four occasions for the Under-15 Dutch national team between 2006 and 2007.
