Criticising the opposition for disrupting parliament, BJP MP M.J. Akbar on Friday accused the Congress and the CPI-M of sabotaging the Indian economy by stalling the GST bill.
Addressing mediapersons here, Akbar dubbed the Communist Party of India -Marxist a 'lackey' of the Congress.
"By blocking the GST bill, the Congress and the CPI-M have proved they want to sabotage India's economy which is heading towards a historical revival," said Akbar.
Taking potshots at CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury, Akbar said: "This is the Yechury chapter of Marxism... The CPI-M is nothing but a lackey of the Congress and together for their political motives, they are harming the country's interests."
Akbar also said the bonhomie between the Left parties and the Congress may eventually pave the way for an alliance.
Denying charges that the BJP resorted to similar disruptions against the erstwhile UPA, the BJP spokesman slammed Congress president Sonia Gandhi for protesting in the Lok Sabha near the speaker's chair.
