The Congress on Wednesday equated Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) concept of "nationalism" with that of "western concept of nationalism".
"The nationalism that they are talking about is not Indian nationalism. They should make it clear what nationalism are they talking about...The nationalism they are talking about was earlier documentated by former RSS chief which spoke about western nationalism," Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma told media persons here.
"They are believers in and endorsers of the western concept of nationalism and not Indian nationalism. It is documented well in writing," he said.
"There is uniformity in that concept, which has one language, one ethnic group and one religion that militates against the Indian concept of nationalism and nationhood," he added.
Sharma was indictating to former RSS Sarsanghchalak (supreme leader) M.S. Golwalkar's book 'Bunch of Thoughts' in which he is said to have endorsed the German concept of nationalism in the book.
