The Congress on Monday criticised the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu for its reported decision to join the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"As far as joining the (NDA) coalition is concerned, I can only say that they (AIADMK) are soon going to be on the wrong side of history," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said here.

He made no specific comment on the merger of the two factions of the AIADMK earlier on Monday. But he hinted that the AIADMK was being forced to join the National Democratic Alliance.

"Coercion, intimidation, use of investigative agencies and ideology called the Enforcement Directorate, Central Bureau of Investigation and Income Tax Department -- which is intrinsic to the DNA of the NDA government -- may get you temporary alliance partners.

"But there is a huge disconnect between the so-called media narratives and the growing disquiet on the ground."
