Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely and 150 supporters were detained Saturday morning and later released for protesting against power outages and water scarcity in the national capital, police said.

Many Congress workers led by Lovely, Sajjan Kumar and Mukesh Sharma staged a demonstration in west Delhi's Nangloi area starting at roughly 10 a.m., as the party continued its protest against power outages and water scarcity in Delhi.

Water cannons were used to disperse a mob of protestors who tried to break police barricades on National Highway-10.

When they moved towards Nangloi Railway Station to block the track the police detained the leaders at about 11 a.m.

They were taken to Mundka police station and allowed to go after about two hours, police said.

The Congress has been protesting in different parts of the city against inconsistent power and water supply for the past few days.
