The Jharkhand Congress Tuesday took a stand against its party leader and Human Resource Development Minister Geetasri Oraon over not selecting as teachers those people who took tests in Bhojpuri and Maghi languages.
"The Congress stand is with the state government's stand. Bhojpuri and Maghi will remain languages for trained teachers examination," state Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat told reporters.
The minister had earlier said that students who pass teachers' examination in Bhojpuri and Maghi languages will not be selected as teachers.
"We have also advised all legislators and ministers of the party to first discuss within the party then come out with statements on policy issues," Bhagat said.
In 2007, the Congress- Jharkhand Mukti Morcha government in the state had included many local languages, including Bhojpuri and Maghi, in the list of subjects for the examination.
