Congress leaders and workers in Punjab will confront Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) leaders in Punjab's rural areas, a senior Punjab Congress leader said Saturday.
Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa Saturday called upon the panchayati raj rural development cell of the party to confront the RSS in the rural areas to stop its penetration.
Addressing a meeting of the party cell here, Bajwa cautioned people saying the infiltration by RSS, whom he termed as a "communal force", was a matter of great concern and might create tension in the state.
"Peace would not be allowed to be disturbed in the state by such divisive and sectarian forces. The rise of such forces in this border state is a matter of serious concern," he said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has an alliance government in Punjab with the Shiromani Akali Dal since 2007.
