According to the sources, the 'parivartan yatra' - which has been rechristened 'kalash yatra', will start from village Nandeli, the hometown of former state Congress chief Nand Kumar Patel.

Patel, his son Mahendra Karma, former legislator Udai Mudaliyar and former union minister V.C. Shukla were among the Congress leaders who were killed in the deadly Maoist attack on a Congress convoy in Sukma district of Bastar division May 25.As many as 29 people were killed in the strike.

The incident was seen as a setback to the Congress, which was gaining ground in the state ahead of the assembly polls scheduled in November.

The 'kalash yatra' being taken out in the memory of the departed, will traverse through the state, said the sources.

Union minister Charan Das Mahant is the new state Congress chief.
