Consumer price-based inflation moves up to 9.87 percent in June

After slowing down for three months, India's consumer price-based inflation (CPI) inched up to 9.87 percent in June as compared to 9.31 percent in May, government data showed Friday.

The CPI had stood at 9.39 percent in April, 10.39 percent in March and 10.91 percent in February.

The corresponding provisional inflation rates for rural and urban areas for June 2013 are 9.63 percent and 10.13 percent, while inflation rates (final) for rural and urban areas for May 2013 are 8.98 percent and 9.65 percent, respectively.

Food prices for consumers rose an annual 11.84 percent in June. Among protein-based products, cereals rose by 17.59 percent, egg, fish and meat rose by 12.69 percent and vegetables rose by 14.55 percent.
