Defending champions Gremio moved to the top of their group in the Copa Libertadores football tournament with a 5-0 rout of Cerro Porteno.

Forward Everton struck twice for the hosts on Tuesday while Ramiro, Jael and Cicero were also on the scoresheet at the Arena Gremio here, reports Xinhua news agency.

Gremio now lead Group A with eight points from four matches, a point ahead of Paraguay's Cerro Porteno.

In Uruguayan capital Montevideo, hosts Club Nacional beat Brazil's Santos 1-0 thanks to a second-half strike from Leandro Barcia.

In Tuesday's only other match, Peru's Real Garcilaso were held to a goalless draw at home to Argentina's Estudiantes.
