With the aim to encourage local cosplayers to go professional and provide them an international platform, Comic Con India on Wednesday announced the launch of a cosplay championship by the name of Alto Indian Championship of Cosplay.
Cosplay is a practice where comic fans dress up as their favourite characters from the world of pop culture - comics, television, films or video games.
The championship will bring together the best in the community to compete against each other for the chance to represent India on an international level. It will take place on February 12 at Ansal Plaza here, read a statement.
The winner will represent India at Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo (C2E2 2017) to be held from April 21 to 23.
How will it be done?
The winners of Cosplay competition of Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi Comic Con's 2016 will be competing for the championship.

The city champions will then go head to head to win the Indian Championship of Cosplay at the event in Delhi. Once selected, the Indian champion qualifies directly into the championship round of Crown championship of Cosplay at C2E2 2017.
Jatin Varma, Founder, Comic Con India, said: "Comic Con India has been at the forefront of promoting and fostering the cosplay eco-system in the country and with this initiative we take it a step ahead."
The event will also feature live music by band Classic Collective and DJ Nisheeth Rao.
