Couple commit suicide by jumping in front of train

An unidentified couple allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a speeding local train in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district on Wednesday, a police official said.

"A couple was run over by the Bongaon-Canning local near the 12 number rail gate in North 24 Pargana district's Barasat railway station at around 12 p.m. on Wednesday. Both of them died on the spot after the collision," said a Government Railway Police officer.

"According to eye witnesses, the couple jumped together in front of the speeding train. The identity of the two deceased are yet to be confirmed. The man seemed to be around 30 years old, while the woman was in her early 20s," he said.

 

The railway police officials recovered the mutilated bodies from the railway track and sent them for autopsy.
