A couple and their daughter were killed and their two minor sons critically injured when an overspeeding dumper rammed a motorcycle in Kalandi Kunj in south Delhi, the Delhi Police said on Tuesday.
The accident occured around 1.30 p.m. when the family riding the motorcycle was on its way to Pushp Vihar near Saket from Noida.
Rajkumar, 38, the father of the three children who was driving the motorbike, was a staffer of the Central Reserve Police Force and a resident of Pushp Vihar area.
"When the family reached Kalandi Kunj's traffic signal, an overspeeding dumper rammed their motorcycle. Rajkumar, his wife Seema and their daughter Ritu, 22, died on the spot while their minor sons Avinash and Surya were critically injured," Deputy Commissioner of Police Romil Banniya told IANS. The injured boys were admitted to a hospital, Banniya said.
The dumper driver was caught and thrashed by angry passersby and handed over to the police. He too is admitted in hospital, the DCP said.
