A court here on Tuesday dismissed the plea of former parliamentarian Dhananjay Singh's wife Jagriti Singh seeking to also prosecute her two domestic helps for the murder of Rakhi Bhadra, a charge she is being tried for.

Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal rejected Jagriti Singh's plea claiming that the other two servants -- Rampal and Meena Sardar -- are also responsible for the death of the third servant, whom Jagriti Singh is accused of torturing.

The court was hearing a case against Bahujan Samaj Party leader Dhananjay Singh, who is facing trial on charges of destruction of evidence in the torture and murder of his maid. His wife Jagriti Singh, a dental surgeon at a government hospital here, is facing murder charges.

The court has framed charges under the Indian Penal Code sections dealing with murder and criminal intimidation against Jagriti Singh.

In the charge sheet, police said, Jagriti Singh used to mercilessly beat her three domestic helps and compel them to work by holding them captive. One of the maids died in November 2013.

Dhananjay Singh is out on bail while Jagriti Singh is lodged in the Tihar Jail. The former MP was charge sheeted on February 1 last year.
