A Delhi court Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to a Delhi Police official accused of raping and making a video clip of a woman.
Following the order of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tarun Yogesh, police had lodged a First Information Report (FIR) last week against ASI Varun Jha on charges of raping and criminally intimidating the woman.
Additional Sessions Judge Rajeev Bansal Tuesday allowed the anticipatory bail plea of Jha and directed him to furnish a personal bond of Rs.50,000 with one surety of like amount.
The court, meanwhile, restrained the police official from leaving the city and ordered him to cooperate in the probe.
Jha's counsel, Ramesh Gupta, claimed before the court that his client was innocent and had been falsely implicated in the case. Gupta said there was an apprehension that police might arrest Jha.
