A court here has summoned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Alka Lamba for allegedly vandalising the shops and deterring police from performing their duty at Kashmere Gate.

After taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed by police, Metropolitan Magisterate Abhilash Malhotra on Thursday issued summons to the AAP leader, asking her to appear before it on May 18.

Delhi Police in the charge sheet alleged that on August 9, 2015, Lamba along with some other people committed trespass in the shop of complainant Santosh Kumar, threw cash bill machine, vandalised the counter and obstructed and deterred the police personnel.

Lamba has been formally charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code dealing with obstructing public servant in discharge of public duty, assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty, mischief causing damage, house-trespass and common intention.
