A criminal planning to kill an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator and a jail official in Haryana has been arrested, the Delhi Police said on Friday.

Sombir, 30, a resident of Kakrola in Dwarka North, was declared a proclaimed offender in four criminal cases registered in Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

Sombir was wanted to stand trial for the daylight murder of a property dealer in Uttam Nagar, Deputy Commissioner of Police G. Ramgopal Naik said.

He was arrested on Monday by a Crime Branch team from Sector 16 of Dwarka in west Delhi.

"Sombir is associated with Rajesh Nahri gang of Haryana and Manjeet Mahal gang operating in Delhi. He and Punit Yadav had murdered property dealer Bijender Kumar in Uttam Nagar on November 8 last year over a property dispute."

"He was planning to kill Uttam Nagar's AAP legislator Naresh Balyan as he suspected the latter was favouring his rival group in a property dispute in Uttam Nagar," Naik said.

The police said he also bore a personal grudge against and planned to kill a Deputy Superintendent posted at Panipat jail.
