A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable committed suicide Wednesday by shooting himself with his service gun in Odisha's Kandhamal district, police said.
Jatadhari Sethi, 42, shot himself at the Central Reserve Police Force camp in Kotgarg, more than 200 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar.
District Superintendent of Police K.V. Singh told IANS that Sethi ended his life because of some family dispute.
He said the constable belonged to the CRPF battalion number eight and was engaged in anti-Maoist operation. He joined the camp less than a week ago.
The district of Kandhamal is considered one of the strongholds of Maoists.
