Young Czech tennis player, Marie Bouzkova, bounced back to claim a stunning 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win against Australia's veteran Samantha Stosur in the first round of the Brisbane International here on Monday.
Next up for the 20-year-old in the second round of the hard-court event at the Queensland Tennis Centre here, is a battle with her fellow national Karolina Pliskova who got past Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 earlier in the day, reports Efe news agency.
In the first set, the 34-year-old Stosur conceded her second serve; however, she rebounded and broke her opponent's serve twice to secure a 6-4 set after 43 minutes.
Bouzkova fought back from the beginning of the second set to break her Australian rival's first two serves, sealing a 6-2 win within 45 minutes.
The young Czech broke Stosur's serve twice both at the beginning and end of the third set, finishing with a 6-2 win in 43 minutes.
World No. 139 Bouzkova emerged victorious over 68th-ranked Stosur in their first professional encounter.
