Police officers of the Czech Republic on Tuesday detained over 200 refugees, including 61 children, who were reportedly heading to Germany.

The refugees had traveled by train from Austria and Slovakia, and were heading to Germany, Czech police spokeswoman Katerina Rendlova said.

"We can't say how many had the necessary papers. Some do and some don't. But most did not. None of the detainees had permission to enter our country. This is the reason for the detention," Rendlova said.

Those arrested were 115 men, 38 women and 61 children, EFE news reported.

Most of them were believed to be from Syria, authorities added.
