Daimler launches India-made Fuso trucks in Kenya

German automobile major Daimler AG Friday said it has launched its Fuso range of trucks built at its Indian plant here in Kenya and soon the trucks would be sold in Sri Lanka.

In a statement issued here, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt Ltd (DICV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler, said it has unveiled the Fuso trunk at the Total Motor show in east Africa.

The new Fuso range is part of Daimler Trucks' efforts to consolidate its operations in Asia & Africa through its focused "Daimler Trucks Asia" programme, the company said.

"The Fuso trucks manufactured at DICV, Chennai have begun their mark on the Asian and African markets. The combined strengths of DICV and MFTBC (Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation) under the Daimler Trucks Asia model will consolidate the market in Asia and Africa through its brands and offer tailor-made solutions for a wide spectrum of customer requirements," Marc Llistosella, managing director and CEO, DICV was quoted as saying in the statement.
